An EPIC education is

COMPETENCY-BASED

Competency-based education means advancement is about the skills you can demonstrate more than the time you’ve spent in a seat.

An EPIC education is

CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE

Culturally responsive education means that who you are and where you come from matter greatly to our community and to how we help you succeed.

An EPIC education is

HUMAN-CENTERED

Human-centered education means that the look and feel of school is organized around what you need, how you work, and where you’re going.

An EPIC education is

INTEGRATED

Integrated education means that you learn a range of skills that help you to achieve in college, career, and life.

EPIC High Schools, an outgrowth of the NYC Expanded Success Initiative (and with generous support from Open Society Foundations), makes learning responsive, engaging and accessible. We develop graduates with a positive sense of self, ready to stand for social justice. EPIC’s personalized approach to instruction challenges students to dream big and design their futures. It engages students in solving real-world problems and supports their individual progress and growth. EPIC students graduate confident in their ability to transform the world around them, prepared for higher learning and a meaningful career.
